Lana Chase is a teacher and clinician. She began her nursing career at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a diploma in nursing in 1969 and a BSN in 1972. She moved south to attend Emory University, where she earned her master's degree in psychiatric mental health nursing. She has made Atlanta her home since 1976. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in colleges and universities. Her specialties are mental health and leadership in nursing.
To teach effectively, she believes that it is essential to maintain her own clinical expertise. She practices as an advanced practice nurse (APRN), performing clinical assessments and instituting first-line treatment at a psychiatric crisis center. She also has had clinical experience as a psychotherapist and psychiatric home health case manager. She is committed to community service and volunteers on local and national disaster action teams with the American Red Cross. She practices in this role as a mental health and nurse provider.
