Dr. Payne began teaching at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in 1995. She is one of the course team members for both of the adult health courses in the undergraduate program. She also teaches in the graduate program. She is nationally certified and is recognized by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She serves as a program evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Dr. Payne has served as a consultant in areas such as curriculum development and professional accreditation readiness for several schools in Georgia and across the nation. She has been involved for the past five years in the University Quality Enhancement Plan which has evolved into a yearly series of activities involving professional ethical decision-making. Dr. Payne has presented a variety of topics at programs on a local and national level including teaching strategies and topics involving health care. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Pi Gamma Chapter. During 2007 and 2008 she accompanied a group of students on mission trips to provide health care to under-served areas in Moldova. Dr. Payne was a member of the Summer 2010 Mercer on Mission (MOM) team, composed of four faculty members and fifteen students. This team traveled to Vietnam and provided medical care for people of all ages.
