Dr. Kimble's research focuses on persons with ischemic heart disease and has two major foci: 1) investigating the symptom of chronic angina and how it impacts physical function in women and men, and 2) exploring adherence to antiplatelet therapy and how side effects may influence medication adherence.  Her research has been extramurally funded by the American Heart Association and the National Institute of Nursing Research, National Institutes of Health.  She is the author or co-author of multiple research based articles and abstracts focused on health outcomes in persons with coronary heart disease.  Along with her research interest in women with heart disease, she also has strong expertise in statistics.  Dr. Kimble began her nursing career as a cardiac nurse and has held several academic appointments.  She has received honors for both her research and teaching, including the Georgia Nurses Association Researcher of the Year Award, the Outstanding Alumna Award for Research from the University of Kentucky and the Teacher/Scholar Award from Emory University.

Dr. Kimble was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in October 2012.

Recipient of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Distinguished Faculty Member of the Year Award for 2014.
