Linda Horst has thirty-one years of experience in nursing and is board certified in Nursing Professional Development.   For twenty years her practice was in the area of pediatric nursing and she enjoyed caring for pediatric patients and their families. Her nursing roles have varied. She began her career in a pediatric medical-surgical unit specialization in neurology and oncology. Her passion for pediatric patients and families intensified as she became the Clinical Manager of a hospital pediatric home health agency which included developing the agency nursing and allied health staff, orientations and programs, policies and procedures as well as caring for both intermittent and private duty pediatric patients. When she moved to Arkansas she became the Director of Education in an adult hospital advancing the structure of the department and developing and implementing hospital staff education.

Ms. Horst particularly enjoys program development and working with hospital staff and the academic community. In 2005 she returned to Georgia and accepted the position of Clinical Professional Development Specialist at Gwinnett Medical Center. In this role Ms. Horst has been a passionate advocate for nursing students facilitating their clinical placement experiences at Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) along with other allied healthcare students, placing over 1,200 students at GMC per year. She also continues to develop and implement clinical programs. 

As a member of Georgia Baptist College of Nursing's Community of Interest, Ms. Horst provides valuable feedback to faculty about how the College can continue producing graduates who can be successful in the complex world of health care.  Ms. Horst is an active member of the Association for Nursing Professional Development, past President and present member of the Georgia Association for Nursing Professional Development, and member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
