Dr. Rubenstein has over 20 years of practice in pediatric nursing, including NICU, ED and home health experience. Dr. Rubenstein is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive experience in primary care. She has led and served on child health missions and nursing study abroad courses to Haiti and Kenya.Dr. Rubenstein's research focuses on childhood obesity prevention and she has worked collaboratively with an interprofessional team to develop expert nutritional content for an interactive web-based educational program for the Virginia WIC program. Dr. Rubenstein's current research focuses on nursing education with an emphasis on technology and self-efficacy in undergraduate students. Her scholarly activities have been presented at local, regional and national meetings and she has published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Rubenstein also publishes a peer-reviewed book chapter and serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Specialists in Pediatric Nursing. She is a CCNE accreditation site visitor, was a 2012 AACN Leadership in Academic Nursing Program fellow and the 2013 Recipient of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Excellence in Teaching Innovation Award. Prior to joining Mercer University, Dr. Rubenstein served as the Undergraduate Program Director for the nursing program at James Madison University.
