Dr. Patterson earned her Doctor of Education from the University of West Georgia, her Master of Science Nursing from UCLA and Bachelor of Science (nursing) from Hampton University. Since becoming a registered nurse in 2003, she has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including cardiac care units, community health clinics, primary care offices, and college health.  Dr. Patterson has worked in academe for over ten years and earned national certification as a Certified Nurse Educator from the National League for Nursing in 2013. Dr. Patterson is committed to research on the experiences of Black men in nursing and efforts to diversify the nursing workforce.  She currently serves as co-project director for the Georgia Innovations Fund Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition (GNLC) Campaign for Action implementing the “High School to Higher Education: Increasing Black Male Representation in Nursing” project.
