Dr. Barber is a seasoned educator who holds more than 40 years of experience in nursing.  This includes a career of clinical experience and more than 12 years in academe, which includes an administrative appointment as Associate Dean at the University of West Georgia (UWG).  She is a well-respected leader in nursing. In her most recent position, she led UWG through their favorable nursing self-study (April 2018), chairing all aspects in review preparation.  In addition, she contributed to the nursing budget management through evaluation of resources to ensure budgetary goals were met. She also worked to maximize employee productivity and manage workload responsibilities.  Student, staff, and peer evaluations speak to her effectiveness as an educator and as an Associate Dean. She is sensitive to the needs of students, staff, and faculty and is a positive role model who strives to develop faculty and students to their highest potential.  Her mentorship of students includes support for doctoral dissertation committees, as well as master’s capstone projects.  She has sustained track record of national and international presentations; is the recipient of awards: including the 2017 Best of the West (UWGa) award-divisional winner; 2017 March of Dimes Nurse of Year finalist.  She is a manuscript reviewer for Journal of Nurse Practitioners. Of particular note is her work with undergraduate students in their research projects.
