Post-Graduate Certificates

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing offers four post-graduate certificates for the nurse who already has a graduate degree in nursing and is certified as an advanced practice nurse. Our certificate programs are:

Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) post-graduate certificate is designed for the nurse who has a graduate degree in nursing and who is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for AGACNP certification.

Curriculum Plan

Semester 1 – Fall

  • NUR 659: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting I, 4 hours
  • NUR 671: Acute Care Practicum I (240 practicum hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 661: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting II, 5 hours
  • NUR 672: Acute Care Practicum II (240 practicum hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 9

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 669: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting III, 4 hours
  • NUR 673: Acute Care Practicum III (300 practicum hours/variable), 5 hours

Total semester credit hours: 9

Total semester credit hours: 26 (13 class credit hours and 13 clinical credit hours/variable)
Total clinical hours: 780

For practicum courses, the ratio of credit hours to clinical practice is 1:4. A gap analysis on prior clinical experience is used to determine the required practicum hours for the certificate program. A student completing this track will be prepared to meet requirements to take the certification examination under American Nurses Credentialing Center specific specialties and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses examination for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner post-graduate certificate is designed for the nurse who has a graduate degree in nursing and is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for AGPCNP certification.

Curriculum Plan

Semester 1 – Fall

  • NUR 631: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting I, 4 hours
  • NUR 652: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum I (240 clinical hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 653: Women’s Health, 2 hours
  • NUR 657: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum II (240 clinical hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 6

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 634: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting II, 3 hours
  • NUR 658: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum III, (300 clinical hours/variable), 5 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Total semester credit hours: 22 (9 class credit hours and 13 clinical credit hours/variable)
Total clinical practice hours: 780

For practicum courses, the ratio of credit hours to clinical practice is 1:4. A gap analysis on prior clinical experience is used to determine the required practicum hours for the certificate program. A student completing this track will be prepared to meet requirements to take the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certification examination offered by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center  or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.

Family Nurse Practitioner

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) post-graduate certificate is designed the nurse who has a graduate degree in nursing and who is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for FNP certification.

Curriculum Plan

Semester 1 – Fall

  • NUR 631: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting I, 4 hours
  • NUR 622: Primary Care Practicum (240 practicum hours), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 641: Care of Children/Adolescents in the Primary Care Setting, 3 hours
  • NUR 653: Women’s Health, 2 hours
  • NUR 629: Primary Care Practicum II (240 practicum hours), 4 hours

Total semester hours: 9 credit hours

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 634: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting II, 3 hours
  • NUR 636: Family Practice Practicum (300 practicum hours), 5 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Total semester credit hours: 25 (12 class credit hours and 13 clinical credit hours/variable)
Total clinical hours: 780

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) post-graduate certificate is designed the nurse who has a graduate degree in nursing and who is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for PMHNP certification.

  • NUR 680: Management of Psych-Mental Health I, 4 hours
  • NUR 683: Psych-Mental Health Practicum (240 practicum hours), 4 hours

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 684: Psych-Mental Health Practicum (240 practicum hours), 4 hours
  • NUR 687: Psychopharmacology, 3 hours

  • NUR 679: Common Medical Conditions for PMHNP, 1 hour
  • NUR 682: Management of Psych-Mental Health III, 3 hours
