Pre-Nursing

Thank you for your interest in our traditional prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing does not accept freshmen into its nursing program on Mercer’s Atlanta campus, but there are pathways to allow students to fulfill their prerequisites or complete a pre-nursing curriculum.

Pre-Nursing at Mercer’s Macon Campus

Students who recently received or are in the process of completing a high school diploma may apply to complete pre-nursing coursework on Mercer’s Macon campus through the Special Consideration Program for Pre-Nursing (SCP-PNU) students. Interested applicants can apply for undergraduate admission at mercer.edu/admissions and select pre-nursing as the program interest area on the application.

Once admitted, students will complete their core classes throughout their freshmen and sophomore years. Students who complete the necessary prerequisites and meet the necessary requirements are guaranteed placement in the following fall semester class.

For guaranteed placement, students must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 science GPA and a 3.0 average cumulative GPA
  • Meet the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) requirement
  • Take all pre-nursing course requirements (57 hours) at Mercer, with the exception of AP/IB credits and/or limited transient courses
  • Application deadline for Special Consideration Program is Jan. 15

Pre-Nursing at Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers

Busy and working adults who are interested in pursuing nursing should apply through our pre-nursing program at Mercer’s College of Professional Advancement.

The pre-nursing track offers flexibility for busy adults through a combination of online and evening classes at Mercer’s Douglas County and Henry County locations. Students are admitted five times per year in January, March, May, August, and October.
