Post-Master's Certificates

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing offers three post-master’s certificates for the nurse who already has a master’s degree in nursing and is certified as an advanced practice nurses. Our certificate programs are:

Family Nurse Practitioner

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) post-master’s certificate curriculum option is designed the nurse who has a master’s degree in nursing and who is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for FNP primary care certification.

Semester 1 – Fall

  • NUR 631: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting I, 4 hours
  • NUR 622: Primary Care Practicum (240 practicum hours), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 641: Care of Children/Adolescents in the Primary Care Setting, 3 hours
  • NUR 653: Women’s Health, 2 hours
  • NUR 623: Primary Care Practicum II (180 practicum hours), 3 hours

Total semester hours: 8 credit hours

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 634: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting II, 3 hours
  • NUR 624: Family Practice Practicum (240 practicum hours), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 7

Total semester credit hours: 23 (12 class credit hours and 11 clinical credit hours/variable)
Total clinical hours: 660

For practicum courses, the ratio of credit hours to clinical practice is 1:4. A gap analysis on prior clinical experience is used to determine the required practicum hours for the certificate program.

Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) post-master’s certificate curriculum option is designed for the nurse who has a master’s degree in nursing and who is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for AGACNP certification.

  • NUR 660: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting I, 5 hours
  • NUR 663: Acute Care Practicum I (180 practicum hours/variable), 3 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 661: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting II, 5 hours
  • NUR 664: Acute Care Practicum II (180 practicum hours/variable), 3 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 668: Management of Adult-Gerontology Health Problems in the Acute Care Setting III, 3 hours
  • NUR 667: Acute Care Practicum III (240 practicum hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 7

Total semester credit hours: 23 (13 class credit hours and 10 clinical credit hours/variable)
Total clinical hours: 600

For practicum courses, the ratio of credit hours to clinical practice is 1:4. A gap analysis on prior clinical experience is used to determine the required practicum hours for the certificate program. A student completing this track will be prepared to meet requirements to take the certification examination under American Nurses Credentialing Center specific specialties and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses examination for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner post-master’s certificate curriculum option is designed for the nurse who has a master’s degree in nursing and is certified as an advanced practice nurse seeking eligibility for AGPCNP certification.

  • NUR 631: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting I, 4 hours
  • NUR 652: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum I (240 clinical hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 8

Semester 2 – Spring

  • NUR 653: Women’s Health, 2 hours
  • NUR 655: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum II (120 clinical hours/variable), 2 hours

Total semester credit hours: 4

Semester 3 – Summer

  • NUR 634: Care of Adults in the Primary Care Setting II, 3 hours
  • NUR 656: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum III, (240 clinical hours/variable), 4 hours

Total semester credit hours: 7

Total semester credit hours: 19
Total clinical practice hours: 600

For practicum courses, the ratio of credit hours to clinical practice is 1:4. A gap analysis on prior clinical experience is used to determine the required practicum hours for the certificate program. A student completing this track will be prepared to meet requirements to take the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certification examination offered by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center  or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.
